Chicago Auto Show Recap

The 2022 Chicago Auto is taking place at the McCormick Center from February 12th through the 21st. McCormick Place is located at 2301 S. King Drive in Chicago, Illinois. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors 62+ and $10 for children 4-12. The show has a rich history and is the largest auto show in North America. First staged in 1901, this year marks the 115th edition of the Chicago Auto Show. The show this year features the following manufacturers:

Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, FIAT, Ford, GMC, Hyundai, Jeep, KIA, Lamborghini, Lexus, Lincoln, Maserati, Nissan, Ram, Roll-Royce, Subaru, Toyota, and Volkswagen.

BMW Debut Vehicle on Display

2022 BMW iX M60: the BMW iX M60 is all-new for 2022. iX is a luxury electric crossover that seats 5 passengers and is only offered as a 4-door wagon. Competitors include the Audi e-tron and Tesla Model X.The iX M60’s drivetrain makes 610 horsepower and 810 pound-feet of torque. It features four electric motors, making the M60 all-wheel drive and capable of doing 0-60 in just 3.6 seconds, which is a phenomenal figure given the EV’s curb weight of 5,769 pounds. Top speed is limited at 155 mph

New BMW Models on Display at Chicago Auto Show

2022 BMW 3 Series: The BMW 3 Series remains unchanged for 2022. The 3 Series is a midsize German luxury car that offers seating for 5 and is only available as a 4-door sedan. The BMW M3 is the high-performance variant of the 3-Series, and it’s powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six, which produces 473 horsepower and is paired to either a 6-speed manual transmission or 8-speed automatic. M Competition models produce 503 horsepower and feature wider wheels and tires, stiffer suspension, and lighter body parts. The M3 can do 0-60 in 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph with the optional M Performance package. Pricing ranges from $41,000 to $70,000.

2022 BMW 5 Series: The BMW 5 Series remains unchanged for 2022. The 5 Series is a 5-seat, midsize luxury car that’s only available as a 4-door sedan. The BMW M5 is the high-performance variant of the 5 Series, and can only be had as a four-door sedan. It’s powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 which produces 617 horsepower and is paired to an 8-speed automatic. M Competition and CS models produce 627 horsepower and feature wider wheels and tires, stiffer suspension, and lighter body parts. Pricing ranges from $54,000 to $120,000

2022 BMW i4: The BMW i4 is all-new for 2022. i4 is a luxury, electric sports car that seats 5 passengers and is only offered as a 4-door sedan. Two models are offered: i4 eDrive40 and M50. Two drivetrains will be offered: single and dual electric motors, offering 335 horsepower in the eDrive40 and 536 horsepower in the M50.  Rear- and all-wheel-drive versions will be offered. eDrive40 will do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, and M50 in 3.7. BMW promises up to a 300-mile driving range in the eDrive40 and 245 miles in the M50. Pricing has not been announced.

2022 BMW X3: The BMW X3 gets a design refresh for 2022, with a new grille, headlights, taillights, and bumpers adorning the exterior. The interior remains the same for 2022. There are two high-performance variants available, called the X3 M and X3 M Competition. They feature a stiffer suspension, more aggressive styling, bigger brakes, and a high-output version of the 3.0-liter inline-six engine. The X3 M produces 473 horsepower, and the Competition 503. Pricing ranges from $43,000 to $75,000.

2022 BMW X5: The BMW X5 remains the same for 2022, with the addition of a limited-edition, blacked-out Vermilion variant being the only change. The X5 is a 5-seat crossover that’s only sold as a 4-door wagon. There are two high-performance variants available, called the X5 M and X5 M Competition. They feature a stiffer suspension, more aggressive styling, bigger brakes, and a high-output version of the twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V8 engine. The X5 M produces 600 horsepower, and the Competition 617.
