The military initially developed synthetic engine oil for high-performance equipment during WWII. It is made without using natural petroleum extracted from the earth and is manufactured via chemical engineering in a production facility. The extra processing that it requires improves its performance lubricating extremely hot parts, and the additives it contains helps it resist sludge formation. This takes full-synthetic engine oil to the highest level of performance and longevity, but it also comes at a slight premium price. The extra cost for full-synthetic is an investment toward peak lubrication and extended oil changes.
We like to trust the technology that BMW engineers have developed for oil monitoring. Newer-model BMW owners can simply do what the service interval system says when a service indicator light comes on for an oil change. Although BMW’s oil and safety service requires an oil change every 15,000 miles for model years 1999 – 2013 and every 10,000 miles for 2014 to current, we recommend an intermediate oil change between the scheduled interval to promote peak lubrication and extended engine life. We invite you to speak with our knowledgeable service advisor to select the ideal oil change interval for your specific model.
A factory-trained BMW technician will drain the old oil from the engine, perform an inspection of the engine for oil leaks, lubricate fittings, and install original BMW full-synthetic engine oil and genuine OEM oil filter to factory specifications.
